Details: I'd be very grateful if you could help with identifying a lathe I've just acquired - I've attached a few photos. I've looked everywhere, but I can't find any markings on any of the castings. I've also tried every search I can think of on 'lathes.co.uk'! It appears to be British (everything's imperial) dating from the 1930's or '40's Centre height is 31/4" and about 15" between centres. Bed is 'flat-top', 33/4" wide, with the shears 7/16 thick and with a central 'slot' 15/16 wide. Headstock is attached by four bolts and spigots into the bed 'slot' (with two 'push' screws at the rear to push the tongue to the front). Nose thread is 11/8" x 9 tpi and is socketed 2MT. Tailstock is very like an ML7 - 1" diameter x 2MT barrel, with the handwheel retained by an 'arc' of metal set into a slot in the tailstock casting and engaging with a groove in the handwheel spigot. What is the unusual feature, however, is that the main leadscrew is 3/4" diameter x 10 tpi, with the half-nuts in a vertical dovetail slide on the back of the apron and cast in iron. Changewheels are 16 DP with a 5/8" bore and a keyway. It's missing a topslide (when I got it, it was fitted with an ML7 slide, held in place by M6 bolts into tapped holes in the top of the cross-slide - very 1930's British! Any clues you can give would be much appreciated.

All are in excellent condition. Many are brand new and unused. I didn't realise I still had these as I let all my DA chucks and collets go several years ago. Probably not very widely used these days, but a shame to scrap them if someone can make use of them. Will post at cost.

Details: Looking for a complete tailstock assembly for the shortbed version of the Union Graduate lathe please. Will consider an incomplete assembly/parts if necessary
Details: Fully reconditioned, including all new belts and new main bearing and spindle sourced from Derek Pyatt (acknowledged authority on these vintage machines and supplier of spare parts). Also includes nearly all of the available attachments for this versatile machine, including rise-and-fall saw table and wobble saw adaptor, combination table, planer table and associated thicknessing attachment (planer blades recently reground), tilting sanding table and sanding disc, 6 inch face plate, speed reduction countershaft for large diameter outboard turning, a number of centres and tool rests/banjos, several chucks etc etc and lots of spares and a copy of the original manual. Rewired with modern NVR switch and comes with its own purpose-built bench. This is the early pattern machine, manufactured in 1962, but is nonetheless a good, reliable machine. However, I need the space for a newly acquired Harrison Graduate lathe and I have only really used the table saw and planer so much of its functionality is somewhat redundant to me. Details: This is a boxed set of BSW taps and dies - in 1/16" increments from 1/8" to 1/2" diameter. There are two taps and a die for each size, plus a tap-wrench and a die stock. All contained in a tin box, with a plastic insert and plasic cover (to keep everything in place). They don't appear to have been used much (I suspect that the majority are unused). There's no makers name anywhere that I can see - so they're probably from the far east, and the quality's not brilliant (the dies are solid, for instance, not split) - so I would suggest that (particularly the larger sizes) they're probably more use for cleaning up damaged threads rather than cutting new, but it's a useful set to have 'on standby' when the odd one is needed.
